Don't tell the kids

" In between the clouds and the full Moon rising above the rooves to our east, Kurt managed to capture some widefield images of the diminutive Comet E3 as it continued it's southwards journey through the constellation Camelopardalis and into Auriga the Charioteer. The comet can just be seen as a bluish green smudge in the triangular asterism 'The Kids' which is just to the right of the bright star Capella or Alpha Aurigae. Capella is actually a multi star system but appears to the naked eye as a single bright yellow star. In the bottom right of the image is the bright orange star Aldeberan, the Hyades open star cluster and the bright blue star cluster the Pleiades. The winter Milky Way runs through the constellation Auriga and consequently Kurt's image shows clouds of dust and ionised gas.

C/2023 E3 ZTF is a long period comet and will make it's predicted return to our vicinity of the cosmos in about 50,000 years, which we are told by Tories and other 'ne'er do wells' will be the earliest time by which the British public will  see the benefits of Brexit". - Joel Cairo CEO of the Jodrell Plank Observatory.
