'Through the Looking Glass'

NGC 2903 - barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo - credits: COAST robotic telescope -  BVR filters -telescope.org - Open University - Pip Stakkert
"NGC 2903 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Leo. It is part of the Virgo super-cluster of galaxies, is some 30 million light years distant and has a diameter of 100,000 light years. In spiral type and size this galaxy is very much like our own Milky Way.

I wonder if a sentient life form, on an alien planet orbiting a distant star in NGC 2903, will look through a telescope tonight and see our galaxy looking very much like the above image? I do hope there is intelligent life in space and that it behaves very much better than us"! - Jodrell Plank Observatory Community outreach coordinator – Karl Seguine.
